It is important to get a Breed, which suites to the composition of the family. Pomeranian and Russian Toy do not suit to families with children under 6-8 years old. The Puppies can easily be deadly hurt, if there is stepped on it,or they can be dropped on the Floor.

NEVER EVER let the children be alone with a Pomeranian or a RussianToy.

Before you contact the breeder:

You should studie the following:

What is demanding to have a Dog?

Can a Pomeranian or Russian Toy suit to your family and your daily life?

You must decide if you want a Male or Female.

What colour should it have?

Should it be a Puppy or an adult Dog?

At the Breeder:
Visit more than one Breeder if it is possible.
You must insist to see the mother and the father too, if the Breeder has him, otherwise demand to see a photo of him.
You must see the inviroments the dogs live in and the behavior of the Puppies towards each other, if there are more than one in the litter ( Pomeranian and Russian Toy get not more than 3 puppies in their litters).
If the parent are shy  - Don´t buy the puppies, because it is 90% hereditary!
The good seriously Breeder has nothing to hide, and answer all the questions, you must have about the dogs.

When you have decided to have a Pomeranian or a Russian Toy:

Make plans for your holiday before you get the Puppy at home. This because you can  teach the Puppy to be alone at home and train the first basicly upbringing.

The first time with your Pomeranian or Russian Toy:

It is a big radical change to dog and owner to begin a new life together. Both must learn each other to know, and the dog must learn the houserules and the standards and rules of surrounding world., in order to function well the next many years. Use the name of the Puppy every time you want to learn something new, as it will get attention of The Puppy.
Sometimes can your training be frustrated, but with patience and staying power, it will be rewarded to dog and owner.
Training and education must always be with love and consistency. Reward your dog with lots of praises. You can also use goodies as rewards, but give more than the daily ration of food.
If you have bought an adult dog, perhaps you only need to get it a little training, but have you bought a Puppy, you need to train it every day.
A Pomeranian or Russian Toy are indoor most of the time, and therefore it needs to be train and educated indoors first. It is neccesary you begin the training  at once you get home with your dog, particularly if it is a Puppy.

To train housetraining.

Indoors it is best with newspaper or old towels near the door to the outside area. It have to be a place where your Puppy quick and easy can run to, when it is neccesary to it.
Let something of the used newspaper/towel stay, when change. Still the smell is there. It will be easier to remember where it must go to.
Accept small misfortunes, while the housetraining is going on. Evenso Pomeranian and Russian Toy are easy to train, is the Puppy still a baby. Just like all babies has Puppies misfortunes too. Don´t punish it!!!
Prais it when it do the right thing. You can bar a part of your home, so carpet or furniture be spared until the Puppy  is housetrained.

Training to be outdoor housetrained.

It is important to bring the Puppy to the same place outside in the beginning. Use a sspecific word to your dog , and use only this word every time.

Your Puppy must outside every time it has:
1) As it wakes up.
2) Before and after playing.
3) After it has eaten.
4) Before bedtime in the evening.

Housetraining is not the only training your dog needs.
From the beginning, either it is a Puppy or an adult dog, you must show who decides.
Dogs are crowd-animal and it is their nature to want to be the leader of the crowd. Så you have to prove your leadership from the beginning. As the primary leader, must it be only you, who feed, train og educate the Puppy. Dogs need one leader, although they can have many people, who is important in their life. Actually it is very important that it has lots of people in its life.

No matter how much we love our dogs, they still are dogs, and have to know their place.

To be alone at home.

After a few days, when the puppy has settled down in the new inviroments, has time come to begin " alone at home training". The dog is, as I told ,crowd-animals. and it is still unnatural to it to be left alone.
Start the training when the puppy is tired and have been outside to clean itself. It is important you place your puppy at a place, where it is safety and used to be. Distract the dog with a bone, without saying good-by for a few minutes. Let the radio be on and some light  be switch on, as if you were in the home.
Ideally you must returne before the dog become restless. If the puppy whines, you must wait to return until it has been calm for a couple of minutes. Ignore the puppy when reunion it.
Repeat " olone at home training" several times daily for a few minutes . Increase after this gradually the period, but don´t go to quick forward.

Grooming your Pomeranin and Russian Toy.

The training includes grooming too. Your puppy has to be brushed once a week, and it is important to it to learn it from the beginning. This training should be started at the breeder.
Look the Ears and teeth after at the same time as the brushing. A Pomeranian/Russian Toy  easily get tartar. So clean the teeth and give bone to chrew. A dog should have the nails cutted once a month.

  Only Pomeranian!!!!
The hair between the pads has to cutted short, as it prevent your Pomeranian to bring durt indoors.

Learning knowledge to Collar and leash.

Another important thing the puppy has to wear collar and leash when you walk it. Begin with the collar. Let it be used to it before you put the leash on.

Socialising.

Your puppy has to learn strange people, other dogs and  animals and new inviroments is a part of its world too. This get used to is called marking and socialising. This should already have been started at the breeder, and must be continued when you get home with the puppy.
Make sure the puppy get so many good experiences as possible before the pyppy is 1 year old. The first 6 months are the most important. It is in this periode the puppy is particularly susceptible to new impressions.
